Welcome from the Regional Co-ordinator
Welcome to the Region 15E web pages. Region 15E encompasses the counties of Durham, Northumberland and the Tyne & Wear area of the North East of England. We offer a programme of activities throughout the year, with preferential rates for members of The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles. Non-members are also very welcome. Further information about our activities can be found on the web pages here or by contacting a member of the Committee.
We have a varied programme of workshops over the coming months. If you haven’t been to a workshop before, please get in touch if you need help with travel to the venue or are a little apprehensive about coming on your own. We are always happy to help where possible and keen to welcome new people to our activities.
As well as workshops we hold two Regional Days per year, in March and October. Our next Regional Day is Saturday, 12 October 2018 at St Clare's Church Hall, Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, DL5 5NT. Our speakers will be Pat Archibald and Julia Soares-McCormick and we will also have our Guild sales table, a raffle and an opportunity to see your 'bring and show' quilts, Linus Quilts. Our trader will be The Raggy Robin.
See the Regional Events page for details of forthcoming workshops.
We have regular Young Quilter workshops for children aged between 8 and 16 years. These are held at Beamish Museum, and the Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead.
Region 15E activities, plus our quarterly newsletter, the Northumbria Star, are organised by a committee of 7 people who give their time voluntarily to promote the craft of patchwork and quilting. We provide support and opportunities for beginners through to experienced quilters, to sew, learn new techniques, enter competitions, find out about quilting events and exhibitions, and make new friends.
Five of our committee members have retired in the past 12 months. If you are a Guild member and living in this region please consider joining the Committee. It is a great opportunity to meet new people.
If you would like to know more about Region 15E, or would like to get involved with our programme of events, please contact me or your local committee representative – details are on the Regional Contacts page.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
