I live in Essex and am a member of Region 8 and Ash Valley Quilters. I have always loved stitching and wanted to go further with this when I retired from the Criminal Bar in 2012 after 42 years in practice. I completed a certificate and diploma in City & Guilds Design & Craft - Stitched textiles/ Patchwork and Quilting being tutored by Barbara Weeks. I have just completed an MA (with Distinction) in Contemporary Textiles at the University of Hertfordshire (2019)
I have volunteered for Fine Cell Work for 6 years now and teach stitching skills in prison in London. My research for the MA is the rehabilitative nature of stitching/creative work in prison.
My MA essay which deals with FCW and its work is on You Tube under "JaneNairn MA video essay"
I speak publicly about the work of Fine Cell Work.
I have run Roydon Sewing group since 2004.
