Linda Lane Thornton

Life continues to be very good in Calheta. I've joined a quilting group which meets in the village hall in Manadas on Sundays, a group of Azorean ladies led by a lady who has spent some time in the United States. My Dutch friend, Yet, is also a member. She has taken up quilting recently have come to one of my Somerset Star Patchwork Box classes.

I am still making journal quilts, but not one per month I I used to. I've made bed runner, table and cushion covers and have finished my Friendship Star quilt - or at least the top. I've got six quilts here so tend to use it as a table cloth rather than as a quilt! This is a piece I made for an international mini-quilt swap, using Gwen Marston's improvisational piecing technique.
